Rhys Dennis is a London-born choreographer, performer, researcher, and intimacy coordinator, and co-founder of FUBUNATION. Over the past decade, he has developed an internationally recognised practice rooted in choreography, cultural inquiry, and community engagement. He is currently undertaking an eight-month research residency at the K3 Choreographic Centre in Hamburg, developing his new work FEAST.

 

His choreography credits include a Scottish Ballet commission with Forest Black Film Commission (in development towards 2027), Kampnagel Hamburg (2026), Greenwich+ Docklands International Festival with Talawa Theatre Company (2025–26), Conny Janssen Dance Company (Netherlands Tour), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the V&A Museum. His work was selected for Aerowaves Twenty (2021–23). Commercial collaborations include Nowness, WeTransfer, and Outernet Global.

Rhys has worked as a movement director with Dawn Butler OBE at LAMDA, Atri Banerjee, and Yaël Farber at the Almeida Theatre. He is the recipient of the Lisa Ullmann Scholarship (2023) for research on the African Diaspora/ Indigenous communities in Brazil and serves as a board member of IRIE! Dance Theatre’s Connecting Vibes.

 

As a performer, he has worked with Manchester International Festival (Black Haine), Tate Modern (Jean Abreu), HUMANHOOD, James Cousins, and Seke Chimutengwende, on screen he appears in Beyoncé’s Black Is King (Disney+), Brave New World(HBO), Nanushka, Birkenstock x Universal works commercials. 

 

He founded Dance with the Nation 5-day festival (2021) in Brent, creating exchange between professional artists and local communities. Rhys regularly teaches internationally, including at Rambert, The Place, Trinity Laban, and Universities/ institutions in Brazil, Senegal and Germany. He trained at London Contemporary Dance School and the National Film and Television School to develop his working sensitivities as an Intimacy Co-ordinator.
